This is the blog of Chris and Jody Treter, and Chris O’Brien. The three of us are working on a book together tentatively titled “Higher Grounds: Better Beans for a Better World,” and this is where we’re working out our thoughts for the book.

Chris and Jody Treter own Higher Grounds Trading Co. in Traverse City, MI. They travel the world to visit and work with farmers that grow the organic, fair trade coffee beans they roast and sell in the U.S.

Chris O’Brien, author of Fermenting Revolution: How to Drink Beer and Save the World, is Director of the Responsible Purchasing Network at the Center for a New American Dream. He helps governments, corporations, universities and other large institutions buy more socially and environmentally responsible products, and his writing has appeared in the Guardian, Foreign Policy in Focus, and regularly in American Brewer and Mid Atlantic Brewing News.
